Player Profile : 13. Alexander Hleb

Alexander has gone from strength to strength since becoming Arsène Wenger's major summer signing in 2005. The former Stuttgart playmaker has operated on the right flank at Arsenal and, after taking time to adapt, looks right at home in that role.Hleb is a strong dribbler and dead-ball specialist as well as being top of the “assist” chart in his last season of the Bundesliga. He scored his first goal on his debut for the Gunners in a pre-season friendly within two minutes of coming off the bench at half-time.It is Alexander's close control and dribbling ability which catches the eye. He's particularly impressive when Arsenal adopt a 4-5-1 formation in the Champions League, and his understanding with right-back Emmanuel Eboue is a huge plus for Arsène Wenger.Recently Alexander Hleb has been named Belarussian Player of the Year for the fourth time, equalling the record set by the former USSR international Sergei Gotsmanov in the 1980s.

With a season in England under his belt and a restful summer behind him, Alexander could be one to watch this season.

Hleb's goal against Reading this season. Arsenal thrashed reading 4-0.
