Chelsea v/s Arsenal Match Report

A cracker by Michael Essien saved Chelsea from their first defeat at home under the Portuguese coach and earn a draw to maintain their distance from the leaders to eight points. Arsenal were looking set to defeat the blues at the 78th minute when Hleb assisted the Flamini goal. Much pressure was put by the home side in the second but had to settle for a draw in the end.

There were two changes from the side that had picked up group-clinching point at the Dragon Stadium. Persie replaced Ljungberg and Senderos came in for the suspended Toure.

Senderos was paired with Djourou at centre back. With Clichy and Eboue operating at full back, the average age of the Gunner's defence was 22. One of the youngest back lines under Professor Wenger at such a big game.

Chelsea hit the post many times , twice in the injury period but could not find the winning goal. Flamini has now scored against both Liverpool and Chelsea this season and is looking to strengthen his position in the midfield under the absence of Rosicky. Gilberto looked in good touch throughout the game making important tackles and going front at times.
