La Liga Round-Up

After one third of the season is over in the Spanish league Barcelona stand on top with a lead of one point to the Madrid Giants. Sevilla are not far behind with the difference between the champions and them being only two points. Barcelona had a steady start to the season but soon injury vows took over. First was the star striker Samuel Eto'o, out with a broken leg. Secondly the young Argentinian Lionel Messi went out with a broken metatarsal. then Saviola also went out with injury, though expected to be back earliest of the three strikers followed by Eto'o in January and Messi in February. But with Ronaldiho and Eidur starting to score for the Catalan side they remain on top for now.
Real Madrid had a slow start to the season with the new coach Fabio Capello from Juventus settling with his new signings Ruud Van Nistelrooy(ManU), Fabio Cannavaro(Juve), Emerson(Juve), Mahmadou Diarra(Lyon), Jose Antinio Reyes(Arsnl) and Antonio Cassano(Roma). Nistelrooy soon found his goal scoring for form and madrid's season started improving, with Raul also coming back in form. Ronaldo has also become fit now and scored three in the last week. Robinho has also started games and looks to be in good form. With the squad becoming fitter under Cappelo Madrid look to end their cup drought now. Sevilla on third place are maintaining their contention for the La Liga. the current UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup holders have been consistent this season winning all their home games. If they could also improve their away form they could become a real threat to the top two.
Atletico Madrid, Real Zargoza and the new entrant Recreativo Huelva follow.
Teams currently facing relegation danger, Athletic Bilbao, Real Sociedad and Gimnastic de Tarragona.
